# Who should we bill when a minor or a third party pays for therapy?

**Answer:** Agree in writing at intake who is financially responsible, such as a parent, guardian, employer or sponsor, and invoice that person. Keep receipts and statements limited to dates, service type and amount, without clinical details. The person paying is not automatically entitled to session content; consent and confidentiality rules decide that. Where a sponsor pays for an adult, get the client's written consent to share attendance or billing information. Seek legal advice on minors' consent where needed.
