# What reports must a mental health facility or unit send under the Mental Health Act?

**Answer:** Section 9D of the amended Mental Health Act requires the person in charge of a mental health facility or unit to submit a monthly report to the Kenya Board of Mental Health and the county executive committee member for health. Reports cover the number of voluntary and involuntary patients received, discharged and still in care, and emergency admissions and treatment. Leaders should assign responsibility, set up records that produce these counts, and keep the reports aggregated so no patient can be identified.
