**Answer:** The Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) is a patient-reported questionnaire about how difficult a person finds lower-limb activities such as walking, stairs, running, sitting, household tasks and recreation. It reflects the patient's own view of their function and can help track change over time when the same approved version and scoring method are used. It does not identify the injured structure; it measures reported functional difficulty and is read alongside examination.

### Interpreting change

Compare scores with the baseline, the person's goals and clinical findings. Missing items, language and short-term symptom changes can all affect interpretation.

- Repeat it at meaningful review points without adding unnecessary burden.
- Compare two language versions only when both are validated and used appropriately.
- Keep the same version and scoring method at every review.

> **Important:** A score does not replace examination or urgent assessment of serious symptoms.

> **Important:** If there is immediate danger or a medical emergency, contact emergency services now. In Kenya, call 999, 112 or 911. Outside Kenya, use the emergency number for your location.
