# Is Kenya's national mental health strategy still current?

**Answer:** The Kenya Mental Health Policy 2015-2030 remains the main policy framework. Its implementation plan, the Mental Health Action Plan, covered 2021-2025, and the Suicide Prevention Strategy runs to 2026. In 2026 the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights called for a successor suicide prevention strategy. The Ministry of Health has also published a National Baseline Mental Health Survey (2025) and 2024 clinical guidelines for common mental disorders. Check the Ministry's mental health portal for any successor plans.
