**Answer:** Poor sleep is often linked to stress, anxiety or depression, but also to caffeine, alcohol, pain or shift work. Regular sleep times, a dark, quiet room and avoiding screens and heavy meals before bed can help. If sleep problems last for weeks, see a health worker; talking therapy for insomnia often works well. Sleeping pills are usually only for short periods because they can cause side effects and dependence.
