# How long do we have to submit an SHA claim, and when should SHA pay it?

**Answer:** Under the current SHA provider contract, claims must be submitted electronically through SHA's Centralized Digital Platform within seven days of the date of service or discharge, whichever is later. SHA commits to paying clean claims within 90 days of receipt, on a first-in, first-out basis. If a payment due will not be made by the 14th of the month it falls due, SHA must tell you why within seven days. Late claims risk lapsing, and you cannot then bill the patient, so build daily or weekly claim batching into your routine.
