# How does a mental health facility get empanelled and contracted by SHA?

**Answer:** Under the Social Health Insurance Act, SHA empanels licensed and certified facilities on lists submitted by the accreditation body (for private facilities, KMPDC), then signs a separate contract before it can pay claims. Empanelment is continuous. In September 2026 SHA launched the HAKIKA 2026-2029 contracting cycle and an e-contracting platform for applications, document uploads and licence checks. Keep your KMPDC licence, indemnity cover and practitioner licences current, because the contract requires them. Check SHA's portal for current deadlines.
