**Answer:** In Kenya, counsellors and psychologists must be registered with the Counsellors and Psychologists Board under the Counsellors and Psychologists Act, 2014, and the titles are protected by law. You can check registration through the Board, and psychiatrists through the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC). Membership of a professional association is not the same as being on the statutory register.

### Who regulates mental health professionals in Kenya

Counsellors and psychologists are regulated by the Counsellors and Psychologists Board. Psychiatrists are medical doctors and are regulated by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. Psychiatric nurses are regulated by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
